For more than 10 years Patrizia Marani has been the Italian director for the Department of Community and Economic Development for the State of Pennsylvania. The State industrial activity is particularly well-developed in the fields of pharmaceuticals, mechanics, agro-food, aerospace, and biochemistry with excellence in the field of life sciences (first in the country) and high tech, thanks to the work of Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority (BFTDA). In the field of energy, Pennsylvania is second in the world for shale gas production which is exported overseas.
