ICity Rate 2017, Milan and Bologna, “smartest” cities in Italy
Milan and Bologna are the “smartest” cities in Italy, according to ICity Rate 2017, the annual report by FPA -one of the Digital360 Group firms-, which has drawn up the ranking of smart cities by lining up 106 municipalities in the country.
The winner’s spot for the fourth consecutive year goes to Milan, thanks to the guidelines related to economic growth, sustainable mobility, research/innovation and digital transformation,
Bologna, following the Lombard capital a few points behind, brings excellent results for energy, governance and overall for the good balance in the approach to the various areas that establish a “smart city”.
In order to process the ranking FPA has identified and analyzed 15 urban aspects that, on a national and international range, define goals for the cities.
These are poverty, education, air and water, energy, economic growth, employment, tourism and culture, research and innovation, digital transformation and transparency, sustainable mobility, waste, public green space, land and territory, lawfulness and security, governance.
In the ranking, Florence won the third place on the podium, mainly thanks to its policies for sustainable tourism and culture, digital growth, energy and the environment.
